Improving Waste Recycling at RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk

At Anglian we pride ourselves on supporting the local community with waste management, helping to reduce costs and improve the waste recycling process in East Anglia. We are proud to share that we have partnered with RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk Branch to improve the recycling process of materials and unusable food waste from its sites across the county including Norwich, Cromer, Attleborough and its main office in Ashwellthorpe.

About the Partnership

We conducted a free waste audit for RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk and identified several opportunities to help the branch improve its recycling rates and reduce costs. Since the initial free waste audit took place, we have installed 14 bins across the charity shops and three at its main office in Ashwellthorpe. Commenting on the partnership, Ryan Marshall, Director of Waste and Recycling, at Anglian Waste Recycling said: “It’s a great opportunity for us at Anglian to work with a non-profit, especially such a great charity, the RSPCA. Waste is a growing sustainability priority for many organisations, but particularly in the field of retail. We’re looking forward to making a real difference to the RSPCA in our region.”

About RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk

Speaking about the partnership with Anglian Waste Recycling, Kate Morgan, Income and Generation Manager at RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk said: “I’m really excited about the partnership with Anglian. We love the fact that they are local and just down the road in Attleborough which means that all our waste that is generated will stay within the county which is really important as previously it was being shipped further afield.”

Did you know the national RSPCA receive 5,000 phone calls every year just for wild animals injured by litter? The charity runs several educational workshops throughout the year where they go into schools and discuss the dangers of litter to wild animals and pets.

Anglian shares this value and also offers the Anglian Green Scheme which is designed to make recycling fun, interactive and accessible for children in schools across East Anglia.

When asked about the partnership, Leanne Neave, Education and Events Manager at the RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk Branch said: “The link between our education programme and the one with Anglian is fantastic. It’s important that we all do our part to educate the younger generations and the wider public about the importance of proper waste disposal for the environment and our wildlife.”
